ProjectsLite
The ProjectsLite toolkit is a light weight version of key Project Management documents, with guidance on their usage.
It is suggested for informal projects, perhaps within a team or perhaps just for use by an individual to clarify and organise a piece of work. These aren´t formal CiCS projects, so they don´t report to the CiCS Service Strategy Board.
You can download the toolkit from the link at the right, and are free to use and modify the forms just as you like.
The aim is:
- To provide tools to help in structuring work and sharing ideas of what needs doing and how.
- To make use of and expand your project management skills. Many CiCS staff have done the APM Introductory Certificate and the principles will be familiar. Even if you haven’t had formal training the documents and these notes will hopefully be clear enough for you to use them – much of project management is about doing the obvious.
- To help get project management principles more embedded in the department.
The toolkit consists of three key documents:
- ProjectsLite Guidance – short guidance document
- ProjectLite Definition – template
- ProjectLite Closure – template
Plus two further optional templates:
- ProjectLite Status Report – template
- ProjectLite Plan – template
ProjectLite or Project?
ProjectsLite is for small projects, probably mainly within one team.
Something probably needs to be a full `Project´ if it is high profile or needs a lot of staff time or needs CiCS Exec approval. There will be a grey area – contact the Programme and Project Unit for a chat if you´re not sure.
