VPN Connection

Before you can print to departmental printers from Resnet, you need to set up a VPN connection. This is needed to set up Resnet printing and it is also needed whenever you print. Set up a VPN connection now using instructions available via the link below.

Installing the Printing Service

To print to your departmental printer from Resnet, you first need to install the iPrint client software. You can install this using the appropriate link below.
When you have installed iPrint you should shut down all browser windows, including this one. Then restart your web browser and return to this page.

Installing a Departmental Printer

When you have installed iPrint and then shut down and restarted your web browser, you can install your departmental priter using the Printer Chooser service. The link is below, Printer Chooser is used as follows: From the left column;
  1. In the first menu, select the type of department (Academic, Administrative etc)
  2. In the second menu, select your Department.
  3. In the third menu, select the location of your printer.
After you select your location, all matching printers will be listed in the right-hand area of the screen. Once you have identified your preferred printer, click its link to install it. Access Printer Chooser from the link below, then log in with your usual username and password.
Some web browsers will ask you to confirm that you wish to use the iPrint ActiveX control. Click OK in the dialog box, then right-click the browser's warning bar and indicate that you wish to install the ActiveX control.
If you see an error message saying 'iPrint client: No printer driver has been associated with this printer.' please send an email naming the make and model of your printer to the printing team. They will then install drivers to ensure you can print.

Once the installation is complete you will be able to print to departmental printers whenever you are connected to Resnet and have a VPN connection.
