5th November - New PDF Reader for Managed Desktop
| Foxit PDF Reader will be installed on all Open Access, IC and Lecture Theatre machines and will become the default PDF reader. Adobe Reader 9 will remain on machines and can be run manually from the start menu. This change will be effective following the next restart of the workstations. | Managed Desktop |

26th October - The Edge IT Centre

21st October - Windows 7
| The new operating system from Microsoft, Windows 7, is released at midnight, 22nd October. CiCS is not able to recommend the use of Windows 7, but if you choose to install it you should check out our web pages containing information and advice for Windows 7 users. | Windows 7 |

19th October - Portobello Building
| The Portobello room C28 was refurbished over the summer in conjunction with the refurbishment of the adjoining John Carr centre. The room now has a capacity of 40 machines and is equipped with new Omnino3 PCs. | Portobello Building |

16th October - Mappin ME04
| During the upgrade of equipment, the layout of ME04 in St George's IT Centre was re-designed so it now has a capacity of 70PCs. This work was carried out in response to a request from academic staff for CiCS to have a 70 seat teaching space, in addition to Perak A04. | St George's IT Centre |
