Synchronizing a Palm PDA using a Windows PC

These instructions will allow you to synchronize your Palm PDA with myCalendar using a Windows PC.

You will need:

Uninstall Corporate Sync

If you already have a previously installed version of the Corporate Sync Client software on your PC, you will need to uninstall it using Add/Remove Programs. If you don´t know how to do this, follow the link in the See Also box.

Install HotSync

Check that you have HotSync installed on your PC. If not, you will need to install it from the CD that came with your Palm.

Install Corporate Sync

  1. Download the Oracle Calendar Sync software from the link on the right and save the installation file to your hard drive.
  2. Double click the cal_syncpalm_win_90424.exe file to run the installation program.
  3. Follow through the installation dialog, accepting the defaults and clicking the Next button when appropriate
    except: - At Setup Type select Custom.
    There is currently a problem with the Address book feature of Oracle Calendar and synchronizing with a PDA which sometimes throws up errors if attempted.
  4. At Ready to Install the Program click the Install button.
  5. Click Finish at the end of the software installation. You may be prompted to restart the computer to finalise the software installation.

Synchronization Settings

You now need to configure Oracle Sync.

  1. Enter your user and server information as shown.

One of the synchronizing options also needs to be changed.

  1. Right click on the HotSync Manager icon from the taskbar (shown below).

  1. From the drop-down menu, select Custom to display the Custom list (shown below).

  1. Select VersaMail from the list and click on the Change button.
  2. From the configuration screen, select the option to Do Nothing and tick the Set as Default box.
  3. Click OK, and then Done.

Setting the date range

You now need to select the dates you wish the synchronization process to cover.
Common settings might be to synchronize events one month in the past to six months in the future.

  1. Click on Date Range on the left hand of the Synchronization Settings window (see below).
  2. Choose your from and to dates in the Date range boxes.
  3. Accept the defaults for all other options.
  4. Click OK.

Synchronizing

Press the HotSync button on the PDA (Cradle) to transfer the software and synchronize with myCalendar.

You should now be able to see your myCalendar information in your PDA calendar.
