Resource Registration
myCalendar can be useful for booking shared resources such as departmental meeting rooms, or for managing a local events calendar.
Unfortunately, myCalendar allows a resource to be double-booked. This is a server setting and cannot be changed for individual resources. Restricting the number of people able to book it directly can manage the problem, however.
Register a resource

The number and type of resources registered are restricted by the following:
- Controlling the load on myCalendar and its management. Resources are limited to a few per department at present.
- Avoiding duplication of the function of Facility, which is already used to manage booking of all pool rooms. For this reason teaching rooms, and any other resources already handled by Facility, will not be registered on myCalendar.
- myCalendar is not suitable as a general equipment booking and management system. For instance it does not provide any of the reports that would be needed.
To register a resource for myCalendar follow these steps:
- Consider whether there is a more appropriate way to handle the resource e.g. using Facility.
- Decide who will be the manager for the resource and who will be allowed to make bookings (that person, another designate or anyone in the department). See the Resource Management guidelines.
- Fill out the Resource Registration Form.
- Confirmation of registration, along with the resource name, will be emailed to the nominated resource manager. A confirmation email will also be sent to the person submitting the request if different.
