The University of Sheffield WAP Service
You can use your internet-enabled mobile phone both to find the locations of free computers, and to find the contact details of University members.
To access these services on your internet-enabled mobile phone, go to:
Finding Free Computers
To find free computer, highlight the link labelled 'UofS PC Unavailability' then press the appropriate key on your phone to activate this link.
You will see a table listing the numbers of free PCs in each student computing rooms, rooms with the most PCs free being at the top of the list.
Finding Contact Details
To find the phone number or email address of a University member, select the link, on the wap service homepage, labelled 'UofS Find People' then press the appropriate key on your phone to activate this link.
Use the appropriate keys to select the 'Search for' field then press the button corresponding to Select. In the new screen, indicate whether you are searching for a staff member or a type of student and press the button corresponding to Select.
Use keys to select the 'Called:' field, then press the button corresponding to Select. Enter the name of the person you are searching for, as you would write a text message, then press the button corresponding to Ok.
Use keys to scroll down and select the link labelled Search, then press the button corresponding to Select.
When your search results are displayed, use buttons to scroll through all matches to find your contact. Select the 'Call this number' link, then press the button corresponding to Select to phone this number.
