Room Utilisation Survey 2012

The room use survey was conducted during the week commencing April 30th 2012 and consisted of a physical check of each teaching pooled room in the University, once per hour (09:00-17:00).  The figures include bookings from professional services and academic departments.

Booking Frequency

Booking frequency measures the number of rooms booked against the number available, and also shows the number of rooms booked but subsequently not used (the No-Show rate). Therefore a third figure, Frequency of Use is also presented.

The data indicates that for the April survey the pooled rooms were booked on average 78% of the time available (up from 77% in November) and that the no-show rate was 31% (up from 22%) giving an overall frequency of use of 54% (down from 60% in November).

This means that annual figures show an overall booking rate of 77%, a no-show rate of 26% and a frequency of use rate of 56%.

Occupancy

Occupancy ratios are a measure of the ‘fullness’ of teaching spaces i.e. how many students are present in pooled spaces at the time of the space utilisation survey.  Occupancy ratios overall are lower than those found in the November 2011 survey.
