Laptop Loan Service

Students can now loan laptops for free for up to 8 hours at a time in the IC. The laptops connect to wireless and can be used anywhere in the building. You can book a laptop in advance through the myRooms&Resources facility in MUSE.

From January 2013 this service will also be available in St George's Library and the Health Sciences Library, Royal Hallamshire Hospital.

Booking Period

Laptops can be booked during the following hours:

Monday to Thursday, 09:15 - 20:15
Friday, 10:15 - 20:15
Saturday to Sunday, 12:15 - 17:15

Self-Service loans

Laptops are available for self service loans from the reserations area on the ground floor of the Information Commons

Monday to Friday, 20:30 - 09:00
Friday to Saturday, 20:30 - 12:00
Saturday to Sunday, 17:30 - 12:00
Sunday to Monday, 17:30 - 09:00

Booking Guidelines

Bookings can be made up to 2 days in advance.
Laptops can be booked for up to 8 hours
One Booking per day per User
Collect your laptop from the Information Desk on Level 1
At the end of your session, please return it to staff on the Level 1 Desk

Using the laptop

Each laptop will allow you to:

Connect to the wireless network
Print to our printers
Save to your network filestore (U drive), or USB stick
Use Microsoft Office software

Software Available

All the software you can use on the IC computers is available on the laptops. The laptops run the CiCS Windows 7 Managed Desktop
