Setting up your iPhone, iPad or iPod Touch with Google Apps
CiCS has provided a settings file to automatically set up your Apple device with your University Google Mail, Calendar and Contacts.
See known issues on the Calendar Issues page to review whether this is suitable for you. If not, follow the advice on Alternative Methods to set up University Google Mail and Calendar.
Address Format
To configure your iPhone/iPad/iPod you will need to provide your full Sheffield email address. Do not use the abbreviated @shef.ac.uk format.
- For staff and research postgraduates this is in the format a.smith@sheffield.ac.uk.
- For taught students who registered before June 2011 this is in the format mda11as@sheffield.ac.uk.
- For taught students who registered after June 2011 this is in the format asmith1@sheffield.ac.uk.

Adding Additional Calendars
Once you have set up your iPhone, iPad or iPod Touch to sync with your Google calendar you may wish to add additional Calendars that you have access to in Google. Instructions are available via the link below.
Adding Additional Calendars to your Apple Device
Known Issue with recurring events that have been imported from Oracle
Recurring events imported from Oracle Calendar may not sync properly. You may find that only the first occurrence of the event is synchronised, or - in some cases - the event may not be synchronised at all. Events which occur multiple times per month (for example "the first and last Monday of each month") cannot be accurately represented in the Microsoft Exchange ActiveSync protocol.
Recurring events created within Google Calendar will sync correctly.
