Environmental Impact Assessments in Projects

When projects that are intended to introduce new services are formally defined, project managers must evaluate the overall environmental impact of the deliverables of the project.

Having identified the impact, appropriate action needs to be considered. Where positive impacts are identified they should be maximised. If any negative impacts are identified then the project should be redefined to avoid these impacts. If it is not possible to avoid any negative impacts then they should be reduced as far as possible and any damage caused should be repaired or compensated for (however, these mitigation measures should be the last resort).

Sustainability in New Service Design

Following on from considering the environmental impact when new projects are defined, the sustainability of a new service must be evaluated before it is delivered.
