Running a server

To run a server requiring access from external clients you need:

• CiCS approval
• to be granted firewall exemption

To apply for a firewall exemption ensure:

• the server machine has a static IP address
• you’re running secure services, or do not provide access to privileged information
• you’re running up-to-date, secure versions of the software

Fill out the online Firewall Exemption Application form and submit it.

CiCS will test your computer to ensure correct configuration – with is done without a personal visit.
