Viewing your Email in Entourage
Address Format
To configure Thunderbird you will need to provide your full Sheffield email address. Do not use the abbreviated @shef.ac.uk format.
- For staff and research postgraduates this is in the format a.smith@sheffield.ac.uk.
- For taught students who registered before June 2011 this is in the format mda11as@sheffield.ac.uk.
- For taught students who registered after June 2011 this is in the format asmith1@sheffield.ac.uk.
Configure Entourage
- Click on 'Tools' and select 'Accounts'.
- Click 'New'.
- Change the account type to IMAP and click 'Ok'.
- Ensure the settings are as below.

- Open the 'advanced receiving options' dialogue and ensure the settings are as below.

- Open the 'advanced sending options dialogue' and ensure the settings are as below.

- Click 'Ok' and close the 'Accounts' window.
- Your account and folders should appear in the left tree.
Deleting Mail
You now need to set your deleted mail to go to the 'Gmail - Bin' folder, this will ensure mail is permanently deleted and is not archived in 'All Mail'.
- Click on 'Tools' and 'Accounts'.
- Double click on your account.
- Click on 'Advanced' and ensure the settings are as below.

- Click 'Ok' and close the 'Accounts' window.
You are now ready to send and receive emails in Thunderbird.
