Downloading and Installing the Windows Client for SAP

Instructions for downloading and running the Windows client for uBASE installer. Please note that this process can take a long time to complete.

Downloading the setup file

You can access the installer for uBASE from the link in the top right hand corner. Which should take you to a screen as shown below.

Please note all Microsoft Windows 7 and Vista Users

You will need to run an additional program before you run the uBASE installer. A link to this 'Vista Tweak' file can be found in the top right hand box.

The file contained within this directory is called vista.reg will make a modification to the Windows registry, which will allow the use of Microsoft Networking to attach to the Novell servers.

The preferred method for connecting to Novell servers is the Novell Client, which can be installed from here:

http://winupdate/Windows/NWCLIENT/

You can run this tweak by double-clicking on the vistaup.bat file.

Installing SAP GUI

You should save the install.bat file to your desktop before running. You can do this by right-clicking on the file and choosing 'Save As...'.
If running Microsoft Vista, you will need to run this file as Administrator. You can do this by right-clicking and choosing 'Run as Administrator'

When you run the install.bat file you may get a security alert box, as shown below. Click Run to proceed.

You should then see the following screen, when prompted, you should enter your cics username and password. Please note that depending on your PCs security settings, you may see an Access Denied message. It is ok to ignore this.

You should then see a progess box - this process may take a long time.

When the following screen appears, click on the Next button

When the following option screen appears, tick the little select box and then click Next

After what could be a long time, the process should sucessful complete and you should have the following icon on your desktop. You can double-click on the icon to access uBASE.

Depending upon the security settings of your PC, then sometimes you will get an empty screen as shown below. In that case you should click the New Item button.

You should now see the following screen. You should click the Next button to begin manually configuring uBASE login details.

Please make sure that you fill in all of the details as shown in the following screen shot. Note some items will not appear until you select the little menu icon first. Click Finish when complete.

Ensure that you select the Connection Type of Group/Server Selection first.

You should then see the following populated uBASE login screen. Click once on the uBASE name and then click on the Log On button. There was a problem with an earlier version of the installer, whereby you had a full list of systems appearing. You can delete the un-required systems by selecting them and clicking the Delete item.. button. uBASE should be the only item remaining.

Setting up your printer

Once installation is complete, you will need to reset your default printer from PDF1 to LOCL. It is best to do this BEFORE creating any new orders. Instructions for setting your default printer are available by clicking on the following link.
