Accessing uBASE after the January 2012 Upgrade
HR, Payroll and Finance systems were upgrade 13th-16th January 2012. Following the upgrade, uBASE users need to make a minor change to their Login Pad settings before they can use uBASE.
Managed XP Users
If you use the Managed XP service the process is very simple. Just Load the Applications menu, then from the CIS menu select the 'uBASE 710 for SAP Upgrade' option. The application will run and update your settings for you. Once it has competed you can use the uBASE Login Pad as usual.
Users who have not previously installed uBASE should follow these instructions:
Logging in to uBase from the Managed Service
Standard PC Users
If you are using a standard PC which is not running the CiCS Managed Service you will need to update your settings manually as follows:
- Start the uBASE Login Pad.
- In the Log On screen, select the current uBase item and click the Delete Item button. Click Yes in the confirmation dialogue box (if you are unable to delete this item, see below).
- Click the New Item button.
- Ensure 'User Specified System' is selected and click the Next button.
- Click the down arrow to the right of the Connection Type menu.
- From the menu select Group/Selection Server'.
- In the Description field type uBase'
- In the Message Server field type vesuvius.shef.ac.uk
- Click the down arrow to the right of the Group/Server menu and select uBASE.
- Click the Finish button then at the Log On Pad screen you can log in as normal.

Accessing uBASE Post January 2012 Upgrade
If you find you are unable to delete the uBASE item you are probably running an old version of the Login Pad. You will need to download the latest version of the Login Pad following instructions in the link below:

Macintosh Users
Macintosh users do not need to make any changes to their settings and can access uBASE as normal with no further action required.
