Buying a Printer or Multifunction Printer (MFP)
Before making a decision to obtain a new device please discuss your requirements with your IT Manager, Print Champion or person responsible for IT purchases. To maximise efficiencies and minimise costs CiCS produces a list of recommended printers and MFPs for the networked printing environment.
By selecting a recommended printer you can expect the following support:
- we will set up a networked print queue for your printer
- we will add it to the printer chooser system
- will will provide print drivers to ensure it works with current and future IT services
- we will troubleshoot any problems you have with your printer
CiCS recommends the following HP printers and Sharp MFPs. HP Printers are bought due to the relatively low purchase price, where as MFPs are leased, usually over a rental period of 4 years.
If you believe you have a genuine business need for a print device other than our recommended models you must discuss this with your departmental print champion, IT Manager or HOD who will submit an exception request to CiCS.
- If appropriate we will discuss with you how the preferred print device will be supported and how it will work with our IT services.
- If you purchase a non-recommended printer without prior discussion you will remain solely responsible for its setup, installation, on-going support and troubleshooting. There will be no guarantee that it will work with our services.
