What does Read & Write do?
Read & Write offers reading and writing support for people with dyslexia. It can read as you type, do phonetic spell checking and word prediction. It will also read aloud web pages, pdf files etc.
Where can I use Read & Write?
Read & Write is available on all PCs running the CiCS Managed Desktop. This includes the PCs in the Information Commons, the Library and the CiCS Student Computer Rooms. Read and Write is also available on staff PCs that are running the Managed Desktop.
Read & Write is also available for purchase by Departments from the Computing Centre Reception. See the links on the right for details.
How do I start Read & Write on the Managed Desktop?
Read & Write is started by following these steps:
- From the Start menu select Load Application Menus. The process is complete in a short time.
- From the Start menu select Applications
- Select Additional Learning Tools
- Select Read and Write Texthelp 9.0
