Biography
I attended the University of Hull and left with a degree in Biochemistry.
I began working at the University in 1988 as a Laboratory Superintendent in the Medical School. There was very little computing in the Medical School, but I did manage to get my hands on my first Macintosh! In 1996 I moved into the newly formed Corporate Information, which later became CiCS.
From 1985 to 1988 I worked as a Chief Research Technician at the King Faisal Specialist Hospital and Research Centre and spent the first two years setting up the Labs and establishing analytical techniques.
From 1978 to 1985 I worked as a Lab Technician at the Medical Research Council. This is where I first started working with micro-computers, learning enough to understand how computers worked and the basics of programming.
My first 'real' job after leaving University was as a Lab Technician at the University of Leeds, Division of Steroid Endocrinology from 1975 to 1978.
After leaving University I spent some time on a kibbutz, mostly milking cows and meeting wonderful people, both Israelis and Arabs.
