Responsibilities

• Manage the Information Commons, and work with the staff in the IC on the support and further development of a modern, collaborative and enjoyable learning space
• Work with staff and students across the University to promote new ways of learning and teaching, exploiting the possibilities that the IC has to offer.

Biography

I joined the University of Sheffield in November 2010 in my current role of Information Commons Manager. Originally I qualified as a teacher in Physics in Utrecht, the Netherlands in 1999. After a short stint as a software engineer with LogicaCMG I joined a large education authority to set up the ICT policies for their 75 schools in 2000. When I moved to the UK in 2004 my first job was as the head of the administration and exam office for Aylesbury College. In 2005 I joined the University of Derby as the head of the centre for interactive assessment development. After 3 years this department merged with several other learning technology activities, after which my responsibilities became a lot more broad, leading on the Learning Technology agenda. While I worked at the University of Derby I also completed an MA. in applied learning technology.
