Biography
I've been at the University since 1988 when I started a degree course in Physics and Astronomy.
I started working here (which implies I did no work for my degree, which isn't that far from the truth) in 1991 in the Estates Department (then the Buildings Services Office) carrying out a large number of different roles - starting with helping to catalogue the University's drawings archive and eventually ending up as Acting Telecoms Manager (a post I held more than once).
In 1999 the telecommunication function moved into CiCS as part of the Infrastructure Support team to enable a smoother integration of voice and data support and when CiCS was restructured in late 2006 I took up my current role in the Customer Services section.
More recently I have acquired responsibility for management of incidents relating to the services CiCS provides (fixing things when they break), and I take the lead on Business Continuity for CiCS services too (stopping things from breaking in the first place).
