Biography

I started working for the University in the Faculty of Medicine, where I looked after a student computer room at the Northern General Hospital. It was a quiet room so I had the time to teach myself HTML and write web pages.

I was then assimilated into the Corporate Information department which eventually became Corporate Information & Computing Services. I did some more web page design and then took on the job of Reports Support Officer.

After a couple of years I had the opportunity to train as an Oracle developer and worked on the Staff and Payroll system. From there I moved to Frontline Support performing system admin tasks for helpdesk software, the printing and copying system, and the student computing rooms database. I also worked on the project to restructure and rewrite the CiCS' web pages.

Finally, I joined the Learning and Teaching Support team where I co-ordinate disability support, provide training and support for Microsoft Access users, and am involved in the implementation of a media hosting service.
