Responsibilities
- The day-to-day running of the IT Centre and supervision of staff
- Providing frontline IT support, advice and counter sales to students
- Ensuring that computing equipment, printers, scanners etc within the IT Centre and Open Access rooms are maintained and in working order
- Software and hardware support for students own computers where possible, facilitating connection to the University network
Biography
I joined the University in 1995 to work in Management and Administrative Computing Services as Helpdesk Assistant/Secretary answering calls from administrative staff who needed assistance with their computers to run/use software applications etc, and carry out various secretarial tasks such as providing support to the Director, sickness recording etc.
After a short while and due to the merging of the Department with Academic Computing Services I took on the role of IT Support which involved staffing the Helpdesk and going out and about Campus providing support to departments.
After several years I moved to the IT Centre to take on the role of Supervisor.
