Biography

I've been at the University for 29 years. I started work for Computing Services as a three-shift computer operator baby sitting an ICL 1906 mainframe in the Computing Centre on Hounsfield Road.

With a new IBM set to replace the ICL I took the opportunity of joining the fledgling Data Processing Unit under Ewart North's control using a HP 3000 in the basement of Firth Court.

With a feeling of deja vu the department went on to become CICS and I was reunited with many of my old Computing Services colleagues.

I have worked on many applications over the years ranging from student records, housing, research grants, safety services, personnel, payroll, CRM etc.
