Responsibilities

I lead the Technical Services Section, which has responsibility for the delivery of all computer and network services provided by CiCS
My section is split into four main areas: Development, Application Support, Infrastructure, and Special Projects. I line manage the heads of these teams
As part of the Executive group, I am jointly responsible for policy and strategy formulation.

Biography

I started out in adult life as a Modern Languages graduate with an interest in Latin American politics. After a brief period as a life-skills teacher, I switched to computer programming.

I've been at the University since 1985, starting off as a programmer in the Data Processing Unit,and progressing through the ranks to become Chief Programmer in MAC Services. After the merger of MAC Services, Corporate Information, and Academic Computing Services, I became head of Technical Services, Head of Application Delivery, and most recently Head of Technical Services. You may detect that I'm going round in circles.

Outside my work I take a keen interest in sitting about doing nothing.
