Biography

I graduated from the University in 1998 with a degree in Modern Languages and after brief stints working variously for HSBC, Irwin Mitchell and The Learning Tree I got a job at Sheffield Hallam working as a Graduate Recruiter for a scheme called PLANET. This was an EC-funded scheme set up to support small to medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in South Yorkshire by selecting graduates to work for them on specific projects. As well as handling the recruitment I was responsible for designing and maintaining the website, all of the comms and occasionally making the tea. It was great!

When funding ran out, I moved over into Student Services at Hallam, where I worked for 18 months for the Associate College Network. This was a scheme that linked local colleges to Hallam and worked with students who wouldn´t normally go to University. I was responsible for the website, comms, admin, tea-making etc.

Finally, in January 2003 I made it back to my alma mater, taking up my post as Frontline Support Co-ordinator for UCards & Registration (I know, catchy isn´t it?!). I worked in that role until September 2006 when I took up a new post as Information Commons Manager. After slogging it out over there for 4 years, I escaped and came back to CiCS in July 2010 where I took up my current post of IT Support Development Manager.
