Concrete Structures
The research in this field covers all fundamental aspects of concrete behaviour including shear, punching shear, ductility, bond, deformations, cracking, and tension stiffening.
Two novel reinforcing systems have been developed.
a) Shearband. A shear reinforcing system particularly suited to flat slabs.
b) Strapping of concrete. Concrete is strengthened by post-tensioned external metal or FRP straps.

Current topics
- Behaviour of roller-compacted concrete
- Seismic behaviour of flat-slab – column connection
- Seismic strengthening using FRP confinement
