Space to shine
Our brand new ideas space (pictured) is a bright open-plan social and work area for all our students and staff. It gives you the space to work on projects or socialise with other students and staff.
Our students also get to use first-rate teaching and research facilities, including a new lab for undergraduate teaching, extensive computing facilities and a modern purpose-built applied science library.
Of course, your degree is about more than great facilities. It's also about first-class teaching and research. Our staff are respected experts in their chosen fields. The world-leading research they're doing feeds directly into your course, keeping you up to speed with the latest developments in chemical engineering.
And above all, our staff are passionate about what they do. We expect a lot from our students, but in return we'll give you all the support and inspiration you need to shine.
A welcoming community
We're a growing department with a small-department feel, where your tutors are accessible and happy to help out. You'll get close support from your personal tutor. You'll work alongside postgraduates on project work. And with regular social and sporting events across the faculty, you'll soon get to know other engineers.
We like to keep in touch with our graduates, too. They share their career experiences with undergraduates and offer tips for interviews.

A vibrant city
Sheffield is a major city with a strong sense of community. It's creative, friendly and brings together people from all over the world. You'll study in leafy surroundings on the engineering campus, with the buzz of the city on your doorstep. We're just a few minutes' walk from the hub of student life on Sheffield's West Street, and a short walk from the city centre.
Back in the department you'll join an international community and learn about groundbreaking research.
