Biography

I graduated from The University of Edinburgh in 2002 with an MChem (Hons) in Chemistry and completed a PhD in heterogeneous catalysis at the University of Cambridge, Department of Chemical Engineering and Biotechnology, in 2006 under the supervision of Prof. Lynn Gladden. Thereafter, I worked as a Research Associate in the Magnetic Resonance and Catalysis group at Cambridge. In 2009 I completed a stay as a guest scientist at the Fritz-Haber Institute, Berlin, working in the group of Prof. Robert Schlögl. In 2010 I was appointed as a University Lecturer at the University of Cambridge before taking up his present position as Lecturer at The University of Sheffield in the Department of Chemical and Biological Engineering in September 2012.

My research is concerned with the catalytic transformations of hydrocarbons, in particular improving the sustainability of industrial processes through (i) extending catalyst lifetime; (ii) increasing selectivity and activity; and (iii) the development of novel catalytic materials.

I am a Member of the Royal Society of Chemistry (MRSC) and an Associate Member of the Institution of Chemical Engineers (AMIChemE).
