During my undergraduate I was fortunate enough to complete two internship places. The first internship was with Acambis (plc) (Boston, MA., U.S.A.) for 2 months organised by Scottish enterprise as part of their Tomorrow's Leaders International programme. The second internship was with GSK (Stevenage, U.K.) for 1 year as an industrial placement within my undergraduate degree. In 2008 I completed the Biological and Bioprocess Engineering (Msc) at the University of Sheffield Before continuing on to a PhD in the ChELSI institute under supervision of Dr Seetharaman Vaidyanathan and Professor Phillip Wright. |

Research groupMy researchMy current work focuses on expanding knowledge of micro-algae with the aim to increase their usefulness as a biofuel feedstock. Our work is focused on the model alga Chlamydomonas reinhardtii under different nitrogen starvation and different carbon sources. My investigations are largely carried out on the proteomic level using the iTRAQ quantification methodology and high throughput mass spectrometry. |
