Biography

I aim to combine my interests in environmental research with potential applications to issues relevant to society’s challenges. I work at this interface to reveal information about complex biological systems and push the boundaries of science regarding algal - microbial interactions in the natural environment.

My research

The increasing world population is having significant effects on freshwater bodies contributing to localized water shortages. Problems, such as eutrophication, are already considered global issues. Eutrophication has been widely studied on a macroscopic level but, with the recent development of - omics technologies, we can finally begin to understand what occurs at the molecular level.
