Sheffield MSc/EEE Graduate selected to atttend Prestigious Summer Institute

Olumuyiwa Omotowa

Olumuyiwa Omotowa, a graduate of the MSc in Energy and Environmental Engineering degree, taught by the Department of Chemical and Process Engineering at the University of Sheffield, has recently received the honour of being selected for the 2010 World Nuclear University's Summer Institute at Oxford University.

Olumuyiwa graduated from the University of Sheffield in September 2008, being awarded the MSc in Environmental and Energy Engineering with merit. Now a doctoral student at Idaho National Laboratory's Center for Advanced Energy Studies (CAES), Olumuyiwa beat the odds to be selected for this prestigious 6 week programme.

Only a handful of university students are chosen for this high profile programme, with even fewer being selected from the USA. Olumuyiwa was told that he had a less than 1% chance of being selected, yet despite this was successful. He is one of 100 fellows who were asked to participate in this years event.

At Oxford University, he will be immersed in the nuclear energy and technology fields for 6 weeks, networking with and learning from some of the world's foremost researchers in science and engineering.

We would like to take this opportunity to congratulate Olumuyiwa on such a wonderful achievement. We hope to hear great things of him in the future.
