Dr Pitt receives praise from President of EFCE

Dr Martin Pitt of Chemical & Biological Engineering took over as Chairman of the Working Party on Education of the European Federation of
Chemical Engineering (EFCE) in August.

One of his first tasks was to present their updated recommendations on the Bologna Process (harmonization of degree programmes across Europe). Prof Richard Darton,President of the EFCE praised the document as "an outstanding piece of work giving the right advice at the right time".

The EFCE represents 100,000 chemical engineers in 30 countries. Martin has been the UK academic representative on the Working Party since 1997 and has organised many meetings for the EFCE, including the European Workshop on
Teaching Safety in Chemical Engineering which he also chaired earlier this year.
