CBE Academics Named as Finalists of IChemE Education and Training Award 2010
Congratulations to Dr Diane Rossiter and Professor Catherine Biggs in reaching the final stage of selection for the IChemE Education and Training Award.
The IChemE awards are now in their 17th year and are firmly established throughout the global chemical engineering community for recognising and rewarding chemical engineering innovation and excellence across 13 different categories. Two of our academic staff from the department, Dr Diane Rossiter and Professor Catherine Biggs, were shortlisted for the Education and Training Award based on their “Blended learning for large classes project” along with 4 other project teams from: BP Azerbaijan/Caspian Engineering Society, London Engineering Project/Young Engineers, Chemical Industry Education Centre (York) and Invensys Operations Management.
The presentations were made at the Awards dinner held in Manchester on 4th November. The winner was The London Engineering Project partnership which seeks to inspire schoolchildren and make engineering courses attractive and relevant.
Whilst Dr Rossiter and Professor Biggs did not win, being shortlisted for an IChemE award is in itself an achievement worth shouting about and their project has had a positive impact on the education experience of several cohorts of 1st year students in CBE.
