Symposium on Biofuels 12 April 2011

Dr Josselin Noirel of the Department of Chemical and Biological Engineering and Professor Ken Reardon, of Colorado State University, USA, have organised a Symposium on Biofuels. The symposium is to take place from 12pm on Tuesday the 12th April. All staff and students are welcome to attend.

The objectives of the symposium are to provide a view into the current and future bioenergy industry in the UK, and to highlight key technology developments in both science and engineering aspects of bioenergy production. Key questions to be addressed are

* What are the opportunities and challenges for the bioenergy industry, in the UK and worldwide?
* Can bioenergy production be sustainable?
* What advances can be achieved using new science and engineering approaches for bioenergy production from photosynthetic microorganisms?

Confirmed speakers include:
Kenneth Reardon, Colorado State University
Jeremy Woods, Porter Institute and Centre for Environmental Policy, ICL
Jim Gilmour, University of Sheffield
Adam Harvey, Newcastle University
Will Zimmerman, University of Sheffield Microbubbles
