What a Ball!!

On Saturday 12 March the annual Chemical Engineering Ball took place in the Novotel, Sheffield.
Jennifer White, President of the Chemical Engineering Society, and Sarah Young, committee member, were very pleased with the turn-out of undergraduates, postgraduates, members of staff and alumni.
The evening was made extra special by the attendance of many of the class of 1965! The day before the group visited the Department to see how chemical engineering, and the teaching of it, has developed over the last 40 Years. Photos of the Department and the University in the '60s were put up on the evening of the ball to remind them of the good old days.
After a three-course meal and the after-dinner speech by Dr. Martin Pitt, Chair of the Sheffield Branch of the Institution of Chemical Engineers, the disco was switched on and soon the evening was in full swing. Those who didn't trust their legs found entertainment at the casino tables or chatted to old and new-found friends in the quieter hotel lobby.
Many thanks to Jennifer and Sarah for organising such a great and glitzy evening. It was thoroughly enjoyed by all. We are looking forward to next year, but they will be a hard act to follow.
