Article featured in CrystEngComm Journal
A recent paper authored by three members of the Chemical and Biological Engineering Department was featured and selected for the cover of CrystEngComm - one of the leading journals in crystal engineering.
Dr Bruce Ewan, Dr Rile Ristic and PhD research student Michal Rusin, co-authored a paper entitled; The glycine-stimulated nucleation and solution-mediated polymorphic transformation of L-glutamic acid, which was chosen for the cover page of CrystEngComm Journal.
The publication demonstrates, for the first time, that small amounts of glycine can be used as a doping material to increase the crystallisation rates of L-glutamic acid. These novel results should stimulate further work in the important and emerging area of control of polymorphism and are relevant to fields ranging from materials science to the bioavailability of drugs.
