Tuesday 19 July 2011
The day began at 9.30 am with the Graduation Ceremony in the Octagon Hall where all Chemical Engineering graduands were presented to Pro Vice Chancellor Professor Tony Ryan for conferment of their degrees. Families and friends joined the members of staff and university officials in congratulating the new graduates on their achievements. Formalities over, the celebration moved to the Department of Chemical and Biological Engineering for a reception, lunch and plenty of photos in the Ideas Space. |
There was time before the speeches to have photos taken with favourite lecturers.... |
...or to seek some last minute advice from a professor. |
Once all had gathered, Professor Phillip Wright, Head of Department, welcomed graduates, their families and friends. He said "We hope that you have enjoyed doing the work of your degree and your time spent here at the University. We are immensely proud of all of you. We wish you well in your future careers, whichever field you may choose to pursue, or path you decide to take. We hope that you will stay in touch with us and share your news with us, as we will you via our facebook page." He then awarded a number of graduates with prizes for outstanding achievements during their time in Sheffield. |
