Degrees with Employment Experience (DEE)A DEE allows you to undertake a placement year – usually after your second year of study – where you can put the theory you’ve learned into practice while gaining experience in your chosen career. You’ll develop valuable skills, and some companies go on to offer hard-working placement students a place on their graduate scheme. If you’re interested in a DEE, ask your prospective department if this is an option on your course. If you do decide to undertake a placement year, the university will support you throughout your placement, and ‘Degree with Employment Experience’ will be added to your degree title. |
Sheffield VolunteeringSheffield Volunteering runs over 200 voluntary projects in and around the city. From working with young offenders to running homework clubs, there’s something to suit everyone, so you can get involved in something you’re really passionate about. Projects are flexible, and you can choose how much of your time you want to give – it can be a one-off commitment, an afternoon a month or an hour a week. As well as meeting new people and making a positive difference in the community, volunteering is a great way to learn and develop valuable skills; from leadership to initiative to team-working. You might even choose a project that can build on the skills you learn in your course or help you in your future career. |
