Non Mammalian Models
We work within the MRC Centre for Developmental and Biomedical Genetics, situated in Firth Court. Our group utilises non-mammalian systems (zebrafish and more recently chick) to model biological processes relevant to cardiovascular diseases.
We have established models of collateral vessel development and macrophage behaviour, and are developing models of thrombosis and atherosclerosis.
We also collaborate with Professor Claire Lewis and have established a model of tumour xenotransplantation to assess the effect of chemotherapy on tumour vasculature.
