BMS SOC 2011/12
Hi everyone!
First of all, congratulations on gaining a place at the University of Sheffield to study Biomedical Science and we hope that you are all looking forward to moving into your new home away from home in September!
I’m writing to you today to tell you about our course’s society: BMS SOC. We are one of the largest and most successful societies within the Sheffield Student’s Union and our goal is to provide the absolute best student experience possible for our members! In a nutshell, BMS SOC is run by BMS students for BMS students!
We were recently nominated for 2 awards at the Annual Societies Awards- Most improved society and Best Publicity, and we aim to continue getting bigger and better!
As a society, we pride ourselves on delivering a vast array of activities and pursuits for our members at discounted prices which is seldom matched throughout the University. Virtually every taste and preference is catered for; from charity and volunteering opportunities in the local community to playing for one of our society’s expanding sports teams (football, rugby, netball etc.). On top of this, we have our annual weekends abroad- Amsterdam being the most recent and our legendary society nights out!
BMS SOC also provides many extra special treats such as our annual Christmas meal and our excellent end of year ball- which is always mad and fun!
Furthermore, we also organise careers talks and provide multiple member’s discounts for local bars, clubs and shops. Combine this with fun trips (bowling, laser quest, ice skating) and we really do have the package to make your years spent in Sheffield a brilliant few!
Before you arrive here and prepare for an awesome Uni experience, there are a few things you’ll need to do. Firstly, join BMS FRESHERS 2011 group on Facebook if you want to meet some of your fellow students before you move. Also you can join the main BMS SOC group as well and follow us on Twitter @BMSSOC to keep up to date with all upcoming events! Make sure to check out our website at www.bmssoc.co.uk for any other info.
I hope you are excited for starting a new chapter in your lives and look forward to seeing you soon!
