Finding the Sheffield Bioincubator

Map of the UK with location of Sheffield
A map of the UK and Ireland marking the location of Sheffield

Sheffield is the principal city of the centrally located English county of South Yorkshire. The Sheffield Bioincubator occupies a prime location on the western edge of the city centre affording easy access to the Britain´s main North/South roads (M1and A1), the city´s railway station and a number of airports.

By Road

Although easily reached by road, we recommend that visitors use the Supertram Park & Ride to reach the Bioincubator. Park & Ride sites are located at Nunnery Square (off the A57 Sheffield Parkway) and at Meadowhall Interchange (M1 Junction 34).

From the Park & Ride take the Supertram (yellow line, destination Hillsborough) to the University of Sheffield tram stop. After alighting from the tram, cross Upper Hanover towards the Henderson´s Relish building, turn left and walk towards the University Roundabout. Turn right onto Broad Lane and the Bioincubator is the first building on the right.
If taking the tram from the city centre the yellow line or blue line trams travel to the University of Sheffield tram stop. Purple line trams only travel as far as the Cathedral and then return to Meadowhall.

Travelling South on the M1:

Leave the motorway at Junction 34, take the 4th exit on the roundabout and follow the signs for Sheffield and the city centre. Just before reaching the city centre (Whicker Arches) take the A61 (N) and follow the signs for Barnsley and Sheffield University. Stay in the left-hand lane and turn left up Netherthorpe Road towards the University Roundabout.

The nearest public car park is next to North Campus on Broad Lane. At the University Roundabout turn left down Broad Lane and the car park is after Siddall Street.

Leaving the car park, turn right up Broad Lane crossing opposite St George´s Church. Continue up Broad Lane and the Bioincubator is on your left just before the University Roundabout.

Travelling North on the M1:

Leave the motorway at Junction 33, and turn left onto the A57 (Sheffield Parkway). At the end of the Parkway take the A61 (S) towards Chesterfield & Bakewell. Pass the railway station on your left and continue on the A61 onto the Inner Ring Road, continuing to follow signs for Bramall Lane & Bakewell. Stay in the left-hand lane and continue onto St Mary´s Road. At the roundabout (St Mary´s Church on the left) go straight ahead onto St Mary´s Gate, straight ahead at the next roundabout onto Hanover Way and continue on this dual carriageway until you reach the University Roundabout (Information Commons on your left). Take the 4th exit on the roundabout onto Broad Lane and follow the directions to North Campus car park as for visitors travelling south.

By Rail

Taxis are available outside the railway station and will drop visitors on Leavygreave Road. Entrance to the Bioincubator can be found by walking across the forecourt between the new School of Music on your right (a restored Victorian building) and the new Jessop West building on your left (a multi-coloured glass building).

Alternatively, visitors can take the tram from the rear of the railway station (blue line, destination Malin Bridge) to the University of Sheffield tram stop. Directions from there are as stated for the yellow line tram at the beginning of this page.
