Annual Medical Engineering Student Project Competition
Third Year Biomedical Engineering (MEng) student Bernadette Deere has won the Corin Group Prize at the 24th EMHD Annual Medical and Health Engineering Student Project Competition.
The EMHD Annual Medical and Health Engineering Student Project Competition is the foremost medical engineering student project competition in the UK. The competition was organised by the Institution of Mechanical Engineers (IMechE) and was this year held in London, 29th February 2012. The Corin Group Prize is open to recent graduates (2011), third/fourth year undergraduates and taught Masters degree students, who have completed or are working on a project in sports, healthcare or wellbeing technology.

Bernadette won the top prize for the entry and presentation of the project “Development of a Segmentation Programme for Quantification of Stimulated Cell Response” which she did last summer, supported by Sheffield Undergraduate Research Experience (SURE) Scheme, under the supervision of Dr CK Chong, Senior Lecturer in Biomedical Engineering. |
Gracielynne Flores was a finalist for the JRI Prizes, awarded to the best poster presentation in any category for Masters and undergraduate students. Gracielynne’s entry and presentation was for the project “Investigating the Reliability of Image Analysis in Detecting the First Stage of Diabetic Retinopathy” which she also did last summer, supported by SURE and supervised by Dr CK Chong. |
