Graduate Stories
Some students know what they want to do right from the outset. Others begin to consider their career options more seriously as they approach the end of their degree, often with the assistance of the University Careers service.
We recognise that for potential students the employment value of a degree in Biblical Studies - as with other non-mainstream subjects - may not be immediately obvious. It is not unusual for people to assume that the only career destinations will involve explicitly religious contexts, such as churches, schools, and other establishments.
A number of students do find jobs in such places, but a Biblical Studies degree has far broader application. Graduates go on to pursue careers in the voluntary, education, and social sectors, or in fields such as media, finance, and publishing, while others prefer further study.
The stories here offer personal examples from past students of the department, explaining how their degree has contributed to 'life after Biblical Studies'.
Some statistical information about graduate destinations is available within the University's careers pages.
