The AUA is the professional association for HE administrators and offers a variety of ways to enhance and advance your career: for example by means of professional qualifications, the annual conference, a range of short courses, networking and international exchange opportunities.
Regular Professional Development Bulletins are sent out by email, updating members on the range of courses and conferences available in this country and overseas.
Serving on Committees
The work of the AUA nationally is steered by a number of working committees, including a Professional Development Committee and a Conference Committee. Serving on an AUA national committee is an excellent networking opportunity which also brings with it the opportunity to influence developments within the profession at a national level. Andrew West at Sheffield University can provide further information on what is involved.
International Exchange Opportunities
The AUA's website is a very good starting point for finding out information about international exchange opportunities.
The AUA can also put you in touch with people who have taken part in exchange programmes. For example Liz Buckton at Sheffield University (extension 21290, email : firstname.lastname@example.org) can let you have some first hand information about the benefits and challenges of an Australian exchange visit.
