Around & About Stock Orchard Street: edited by Sarah Wigglesworth (Routledge)

Professor
MA, Dip Arch (Cantab), ARB, RIBA, FRSA, MBE, RDI
I was appointed Professor of Architecture in 1998. My research interests lie in the boundary between theory and practice, and in exploring sustainable environments. In 2000 I established the School's PhD by Design to ensure design is recognised as a genuine research activity. I am director of London-based Sarah Wigglesworth Architects, a practice pioneering new approaches to building using low energy principles and has won many awards for its work. I received an MBE for services to architecture in 2003 and was granted status as Royal Designer for Industry (RDI) in 2012
| Teaching Activities |
Currently I provide teaching, lecturing and criticism on an occasional basis to all years of the school on matters of design, technology, management and environmental design. In 2013 I organised the School Forum, a lecture series dedicated to a subject of interest outside the school’s curriculum. This year’s theme was The Thinking Craftsperson. Contributors from ceramics, knitting, boatbuilding, design education, cuisine, costume making, willow weaving and jewellery debated issues around their discipline, relating their thoughts to architecture. |
