B. Eng. Arch., MSc (Tsinghua), PhD (Cantab.), CEng, FIOA, FASA

I obtained my first degree and MSc from Tsinghua University in Beijing, and my PhD from the University of Cambridge. Before coming to Sheffield, I worked as a Senior Research Associate at the Martin Centre, University of Cambridge, an A. v. Humboldt Fellow at the Fraunhofer Institute of Building Physics in Germany, and a lecturer at Tsinghua University.

Teaching Activities

I teach architectural science and technology, especially architectural and environmental acoustics. My approach to teaching has a great emphasis on integration of science and technology into architectural design through the combination of lecture courses and studio sessions. The teaching and learning processes often involves developing and using scientific visualisation tools, interlinking teaching and research, and careful tailoring of learning materials to students’ different backgrounds and needs. Currently, I teach the following modules:

ARC107/127/177 Environment and Technology 1
ARC108/128/178 Environment and Technology 2
ARC 307/327/377 Environment and Technology 5
ARC 308/328/378 Environment and Technology 6
ARC 554 MArch Science and Technology 1
ARC 564 MArch Science and Technology 2
ARC 6710 Advanced Study and Research Methods 1
ARC 6720 Advanced Study and Research Methods 2
