Subjects/methods: Zooarchaeology
Zooarchaeology involves the study of animal remains from archaeological sites and seeks to understand all aspects of human-animal interactions in the past, ranging from hunting strategies and carcase processing to animal husbandry and the processes of domestication and selective breeding. Sheffield has a long history of research in zooarchaeology and is home to one of the largest and most active zooarchaeology research teams in the UK.
