There were many arrowheads, probably deliberately placed in these pits.


The chalk platform was surrounded on its east side by lines of stakeholes, perhaps forming fence lines. As well as the eight pits with lots of finds, there were more than 40 other pits. Four of these may have formed a line of postholes leading from the entrance towards the river. Close to these, an unusual slit-shaped pit contained a flint phallus
