We want you to achieve the best you can in your time with us, and we want you to be in a strong position to enter the graduate market place when you complete your degree.

You can take Archaeology as a Single Honours subject or as part of a Dual Degree. In each case you will progress from a general understanding of world archaeology in your first year to a more detailed understanding of the major archaeological research issues in European archaeology, procedures of archaeological analysis and archaeological theory in your second and third years. In your third year, you will also be able to explore research-based issues through the preparation of your own dissertation. You will learn basic techniques of field and laboratory work in the first year, and you will undertake archaeological excavation in the second and third years.
Teaching is by lectures, laboratory classes, fieldwork, seminars and tutorials. You will be assigned a personal tutor who will provide guidance and support throughout your degree.
The student Archaeological Society (Arcsoc) offers a diverse programme of activities throughout the year.
