EPSRC Doctor Training Account

The School of Mathematics and Statistics holds an EPSRC Doctoral Training Account to fund a number of PhD studentships. The studentships are open to home and EU applicants only. The studentships will be for three to four years. They include fees and a stipend for home students, and home fees only for EU students.

Prospective applicants are encouraged to contact our admissions tutor for advice and information on the current situation concerning availability. Contact details can be found at the bottom of this page.

Graduate Teaching Assistantships

The School of Mathematics and Statistics, University of Sheffield, is offering a number of fully funded Graduate Teaching Assistantships, to start in September 2011.

Each post will combine PhD study with teaching experience within the School and Mathematics and Statistics, with an enhanced stipend of £15,000 per annum, rising in line with standard EPSRC stipends. Each Graduate Teaching Assistant will undertake between 6 and 12 hours per week teaching and related duties during term-time, including tutorials, marking and, where appropriate, lecturing. Each post will be for 3.5 years. Applicants must be eligible to pay "home" (essentially UK or EU) fees, rather than "overseas" fees, at the University of Sheffield; the GTA post will cover the full fees.

For more information, see the documents you can find on the right hand sides of this page.

Studentships supported by research grants

Studentships are also available through research grants. A STFC studentship is currently available at the Solar Physics and Space Plasma Research Centre (SP2RC) in the Department of Applied Mathematics. Applications are warmly welcomed. Please follow the following link for detail. New!
