MSc in Avionic Systems
The MSc in Avionic Systems, jointly run by the Department of Automatic Control and Systems Engineering and Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering, covers the electrical and electronic systems on board aircraft together with software, control, guidance and navigation. Developments in these areas are making aircraft safer, more efficient and more autonomous. There is a large demand for graduates who can understand these complex systems and how they interact.
This exciting degree is designed to allow students to develop depth of knowledge and skills in various aspects of avionic systems and will cover
- Introduction to Avionics
- Reliability of Avionics Systems
- Electrical Power Conditioning and Control
- Motion Control and Servo Drives
- Electromagnetic Compatibility
- Radar and Navigation Aids
- Flight Control Systems
- Sensor Fusion
- Distributed Systems
- Advanced Instrumentation
- Safety Critical Computing
In addition students will undertake an extensive research project. This MSc is ideal for students looking to specialise in or learn more about this exciting area. With avionic systems now accounting for the major part of the cost of modern aircraft there are plenty of career opportunities.
